QUESTIONS?

What can grants and incentives do to help you achieve your business goals?

Generally, grants and incentives are available to a business when they are growing and/or developing (creating jobs, making investment), innovating (product, process, material, etc.), and/or doing something interesting. Here are some trigger questions to help you:

·       Are you creating 25+ new jobs over the next 2-3 years?

·       Are you retaining jobs/avoiding layoffs?

·       Are you investing in real/personal property due to increased business demand/growth?

·       Are you replacing machinery and equipment with energy-effficient modles?

·       Are you developing and/or bringing to market a new technology, process, product or material?

·       Are you renovating, rehabbing and/or greening real property?

·       Do you need training, upskilling and development for your current and/or future workforce?

·       Are you filling an immediate need?

Who offers grants and incentives to businesses?

Many organizations make grants to businesses for a wide variety of reasons. We say it often, and will say it again: DO NOT CHASE MONEY! Local, State and Federal governments and agencies make grants and offer incentives to businesses. In fact, there are approximately 26 federal agencies that make grants to businesses. Industry organizations, education institutions, utilities, and even other companies also make grants to businesses.

How does McCormick Consulting charge?

McCormick Consulting charges an hourly fee for consulting services. We will estimate the hours needed to complete a project and provide a client a project or monthly estimate of fees. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association’s Professional Standards: “The Grant Consulting Entity may not accept compensation that is a retainer, bonus, commission-based, or contingency-based.”

How Does McCormick Consulting work with a business?

McCormick Consulting is an extension of your Team. When a business hires McCormick Consulting to prepare a letter, proposal or application for a grant and/or incentive, there is effort that will still be required on the part of the business. So, one person in the business should be designated as the point person to work with McCormick Consulting. Typical responsibilities of the business that must be accomplished in a timely manner may include system registrations, providing information and documents, certifications and signatures.
